Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about using Monero One to store and send Monero privately.

Getting Started

What is Monero One?
Monero One is a free, open-source, self-custody wallet for Monero (XMR) on iOS. It lets you send, receive, and store Monero with complete privacy. Your keys stay on your device and are never shared with anyone, including us.
Is Monero One free to use?
Yes. Monero One is completely free to download and use. There are no subscription fees, no in-app purchases, and no hidden charges. The only fees you pay are the standard Monero network transaction fees when sending XMR, which go to miners who secure the network.
Is Monero One available on Android?
Not yet. Monero One is currently available only on iOS. An Android version is planned. You can join the waitlist on our homepage to be notified when the Android version launches.
How do I download Monero One?
You can download Monero One for free from the Apple App Store. Search for "Monero One" or visit our download page at monero.one/download, which takes you directly to the App Store listing.

Security & Privacy

Is Monero One safe to use?
Yes. Monero One is a non-custodial wallet, meaning your private keys and seed phrase are stored only on your device. They are never sent to our servers. The app is open source and available on GitHub for anyone to audit. It supports PIN and biometric (Face ID / Touch ID) protection for an additional layer of security.
What is a seed phrase and why is it important?
A seed phrase is a set of 25 words generated when you create a new wallet. It is the master backup of your wallet. With your seed phrase, you can restore your wallet and access your funds on any compatible Monero wallet app. Without it, your funds are permanently lost if you lose access to your device. Write it down on paper and store it in a safe place. Never share it with anyone.
What happens if I lose my phone?
If you have your 25-word seed phrase, you can restore your wallet on a new device by installing Monero One and choosing "Restore Wallet." All your funds will be recovered. If you do not have your seed phrase, your funds cannot be recovered. This is why backing up your seed phrase is critical.
Does Monero One collect any personal data?
No. Monero One does not collect analytics, does not track your activity, and does not require any personal information to use. You do not need to create an account or provide your name, email, or phone number to use the wallet. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Using the Wallet

How do I send Monero with Monero One?
Open the app, tap Send, enter the recipient's Monero address (or scan their QR code), enter the amount, and confirm. The transaction is signed on your device and broadcast to the Monero network. Thanks to Monero's privacy features, the transaction amount, sender, and recipient are hidden from outside observers.
How long does it take to sync my wallet?
Monero One connects directly to Monero nodes via RPC. Your device does the scanning locally. Initial sync depends on your wallet's age and the node's speed. Subsequent syncs are fast since only new blocks need to be scanned.
Can I use Monero One with my own node?
Yes. Monero One connects directly to Monero nodes via RPC. The default node is node.monero.one, with fallbacks to other public nodes. You can also add your own node in settings, including Tor onion nodes.

About Monero

What is Monero and why is it private?
Monero (XMR) is a cryptocurrency focused on privacy, decentralization, and fungibility. Unlike Bitcoin, where all transactions and balances are visible on a public ledger, Monero uses three key privacy technologies: ring signatures hide the sender among a group of decoys, stealth addresses generate one-time addresses for each transaction so the recipient's real address is never recorded on chain, and RingCT (Ring Confidential Transactions) hides the transaction amount. Together, these features make Monero transactions private by default — no opt-in required.
