Exodus Monero Alternative: Move Your XMR to Monero One (2026)
Exodus ended Monero support in August 2025. Find your 25-word Monero seed and restore your XMR in Monero One, step by step.
By Joe, founder of Monero One
Exodus ended Monero support in August 2025. Your XMR is still on the Monero blockchain, and your Monero seed still controls it. To open that wallet in Monero One, get the 25-word Monero mnemonic from Exodus Desktop. Restore it in Monero One as a 25-word seed, with a restore date before your first deposit. Monero One cannot restore the 12-word Exodus phrase.
Your XMR Is Safe on the Blockchain
Exodus was the app. The Monero blockchain holds your funds. The seed is the wallet, and any app that reads a 25-word Monero seed opens the same wallet.
Type your seed only into the wallet app on your own phone. Never share it, and never type it into a website, chat or support ticket. Anyone who has your seed can take your XMR.
Step 1: Find the 25-Word Monero Seed in Exodus
Exodus shows your Monero keys as a 25-word mnemonic. Your 12-word Exodus phrase also controls them, but Monero One cannot restore 12 words. Use the 25 words.
Exodus says you can still see the 25 words in Exodus Desktop. Click the Settings icon, then Assets. Open the menu and select Monero Private Keys. Read the message and click Yes, I'm sure. Enter your password and click Unlock Now. The 25 words show under Mnemonic.
Use Exodus on your phone? Exodus says you must first sync it to Exodus Desktop. Menus can change between Exodus versions. For help, read the Exodus help article on Monero, and never send anyone your seed.
Write the 25 words on paper, in order. If Exodus also shows a wallet creation height, a block number, write it down too. Keep the paper offline.
Count the words before you go on. You need exactly 25.
Step 2: Install Monero One and Start a Restore
Install Monero One from the App Store or Google Play.
On iPhone, the app opens on Important Information. Tick each item and tap I Understand, Continue.
Tap Restore Wallet. Already use Monero One? Tap your wallet's name at the top of the Wallet tab. Then tap Add Wallet and Restore Wallet.
On iPhone, choose Seed Phrase on the Choose Restore Method screen and tap Continue.
Step 3: Type the 25 Words
On the Enter your seed phrase screen, type the 25 words in order. Put one space between words. Monero One reads 25 words as a legacy Monero seed, the format Exodus used for Monero.
On iPhone, Continue stays gray until the word count is right. Tap Continue.
On Android, the field counts your words as you type. Stay on this screen. The restore date goes just below the seed.
Step 4: Pick the Restore Date
The restore date tells Monero One where to start scanning. A late date skips your early payments. An early date finds them all and only adds scan time.
Monero One asks for a date. If you wrote down a creation height, turn it into a date with the table below. Monero adds about 720 blocks a day. Find the last row with a block number smaller than your height, and pick its date.
| Date | Block on that date |
|---|---|
| April 1, 2019 | 1,803,081 |
| January 1, 2020 | 2,001,315 |
| January 1, 2021 | 2,264,584 |
| January 1, 2022 | 2,527,316 |
| January 1, 2023 | 2,789,763 |
| January 1, 2024 | 3,051,991 |
| January 1, 2025 | 3,315,383 |
For example, a creation height of 2,600,000 means you pick January 1, 2022.
Unsure of the height? Pick April 26, 2019. Exodus says it first supported Monero on that day. When in doubt, pick an earlier date.
Now enter the date. On iPhone, the screen asks When did you create this wallet? Keep Use wallet creation date on, pick the day in the calendar and tap Continue. On Android, tap Wallet Birthday (Optional) under the seed, pick the day and tap OK. Then tap Continue.
You can also scan the whole chain. Turn off Use wallet creation date on iPhone, or leave Wallet Birthday empty on Android. This is the slowest choice.
A date in the last 30 days makes Monero One ask Restore from, followed by that date. Tap Choose another date. Your Exodus Monero wallet is older than that.
Step 5: Set a PIN and Name the Wallet
On iPhone, pick a 4-digit or 6-digit PIN, enter it twice and tap Restore Wallet. Turn on Face ID or tap Skip for Now. Name the wallet and tap Restore Wallet again.
On Android, name the wallet first and tap Restore Wallet. Then set and confirm your PIN. Choose Enable Biometrics or Skip for Now.
Adding a wallet next to one you already have? Monero One keeps your current PIN, so you only name the new wallet.
Step 6: Wait for Synced, Then Check the Address
Monero One now scans the blockchain on your phone. The Wallet tab shows the progress. Older wallets take longer.
When the status reads Synced, your balance and past payments show under Recent Activity.
Then check the address. Tap Receive, then tap the address row to open Select Address. Look for the address you used in Exodus. If it is in the list, the restore worked.
If Your Balance Shows Zero
Wait for Synced first. A scan in progress can show zero.
Still zero after Synced? The restore date is probably too late. Open Settings, then Sync Settings, and tap Restore Height. Pick an earlier date. On iPhone, tap Update Restore Height. On Android, tap OK. Then confirm with Update. The scan starts again from the new block. The confirm message shows that block number, so you can compare it with your Exodus height.
Is your Exodus address missing from Select Address? Then the seed differs from the one Exodus used. Check each word against your paper and restore again.

FAQ
Can I use my 12-word Exodus phrase in Monero One?
No. Monero One restores 25-word and 24-word seeds, plus 16-word Polyseed seeds on iPhone. Use the 25-word Monero mnemonic from Exodus Desktop instead. Exodus says Cake Wallet can restore your Monero from the 12 words. Keep the 12 words safe too, since they still control your other Exodus coins.
Is my XMR lost now that Exodus dropped Monero?
Your XMR is still on the Monero blockchain. The 25-word seed controls it, so keep the seed on paper and private.
I wrote down a block height from Exodus. Where do I enter it?
Monero One asks for a date. Use the table in Step 4 to turn your height into one.
Does Monero One send my seed anywhere?
Your seed stays on your phone, stored encrypted. Monero One scans the blockchain on the device and connects straight to Monero nodes.
