Kraken Delisted Monero in Your Country: What to Do

Kraken delisted Monero (XMR) for clients in the UK, Ireland, Belgium, the rest of the EEA, Canada, India and the UAE. First, find your region's dates below. If Kraken still lets you withdraw, move your XMR to a wallet you control. Create a wallet in Monero One, write down the seed, add your address in Kraken and send a small test first.

Kraken's XMR Dates by Region

These dates come from Kraken's support notices. Kraken gives its times in UTC.

In India and the UAE, Kraken closed margin positions one day before trading stopped. These two notices give the day and month only. Kraken last updated them on May 30, 2026 (India) and June 1, 2026 (UAE).

What Kraken Told Users

Each notice tells you to act before the deadline.

Canada: "please withdraw your XMR to a personal wallet or convert it to another asset before September 2, 2025." The notice adds: "XMR withdrawals will remain available after trading is disabled."
India and the UAE: "Please ensure your positions are closed and funds are withdrawn before the deadlines above."
EEA: XMR left after December 31, 2024 was "automatically converted to BTC by Kraken at the going market rate."

The notices leave the choice of wallet to you. Any Monero wallet that you control can receive your XMR. The steps below use Monero One.

Step 1: Install Monero One and Create a Wallet

Install Monero One from the App Store or Google Play.

On iPhone, the app opens on Important Information. Tick each item and tap I Understand, Continue. Then tap Create New Wallet.

On iPhone, the Choose Seed Format screen offers two formats. Pick one:

Polyseed: 16 words. It stores the approximate date you created the wallet, so a later restore scans faster. It restores in Monero One for iPhone.
Standard: 24 words. It restores in Monero One for iPhone and Android.

Tap Continue. Set a 4-digit or 6-digit PIN, enter it twice and tap Continue. Turn on Face ID or tap Skip for Now.

On Android, tap Create New Wallet. The app makes a 24-word seed and shows it on the next screen.

Step 2: Write Down the Seed

The Write down your seed phrase screen shows your words. Write them on paper, in order. Keep the paper somewhere safe and offline.

Your seed is the wallet. Anyone who has it can take your XMR. Never share it, and never type it into a website, chat or support ticket. That includes a Kraken support ticket.

On iPhone, turn on I have written down my seed phrase and tap Continue. Name the wallet and tap Continue.

On Android, tap Continue. On Confirm Backup, tick I have written down my seed phrase and tap Create Wallet. Name the wallet and tap Create Wallet. Then set and confirm your PIN, and choose Enable Biometrics or Skip for Now.

Step 3: Copy Your Receive Address

On the Wallet tab, tap Receive. The Receive XMR screen shows an address that starts with 8. This is a subaddress. Your wallet can make many of them, and payments to each one reach the same wallet.

Kraken accepts Monero addresses that start with 4 or 8. Tap Copy.

Step 4: Add the Address in Kraken

Kraken gives these steps for kraken.com:

Open Transfer and choose Withdraw.
Search for Monero and select it.
Click Add new withdrawal address.
Enter a Label, such as Monero One.
Paste the address into the Withdrawal address field.
Click Add withdrawal address.

Kraken can send a confirmation link to your email. The link works for one hour. In the Kraken app, look for the option to add a withdrawal address.

Kraken asks you to paste the address. After you paste, check the first and last six characters against Monero One.

Step 5: Send a Small Test First

Withdraw a small amount of XMR to the new address. When it arrives, it shows under Recent Activity in Monero One. Monero locks new funds for 10 blocks, about 20 minutes, before you can spend them.

When the test arrives, withdraw the rest to the same saved address.

After each payment, the Receive screen shows a new address. Your old addresses keep working, so the address you saved in Kraken still works.

If Withdrawals Already Ended

In the UK, Ireland, Belgium and the rest of the EEA, Kraken's notices say it converted the remaining XMR to BTC. In the UK, the conversion date was July 30, 2024. In the EEA, Kraken said it would pay out the BTC by January 6, 2025.

In India, Kraken's notice says remaining XMR balances "will be liquidated" from May 18 to 22. The UAE notice gives September 15 to 25.

Can I still withdraw XMR from Kraken in Canada?

Kraken's Canada notice, last updated August 21, 2025, says "XMR withdrawals will remain available after trading is disabled." Your Kraken account shows whether they are open today.

Why send a small test first?

A test proves the address is right before you move the full amount. Monero payments are final, so a payment to a wrong address is lost.

Which seed format should I pick on iPhone?

Polyseed restores faster because it stores the wallet's birthday, and it restores in Monero One for iPhone. Standard restores in Monero One for iPhone and Android. Pick Standard if you might use the wallet on Android.

Can Kraken see my balance after I withdraw?

Kraken knows the address and the amount it sent. The Monero blockchain hides your balance and your other payments from Kraken.
