Where to Buy Monero in 2026
Where to buy Monero in 2026: exchanges that still list XMR, where they delisted it, peer-to-peer markets and bank on-ramps, dated and sourced.
By Joe, founder of Monero One
Where can you buy Monero in 2026? Several large exchanges still list XMR. Others removed it, in some regions or everywhere. Peer-to-peer markets, swaps and a few bank on-ramps fill the gap. This guide shows where to buy Monero today, with a date and a source for each fact.
Monero One has no buy option today. Buy XMR on a service you choose, then send it to your Monero One receive address.
We make Monero One. The links in this guide carry no referral codes. We list services from A to Z, with no ranking.
How We Checked
On October 17, 2026, we read each exchange's delisting notices and its public market data. For peer-to-peer markets and on-ramps, we read each service's own site. We bought nothing. Listings change fast, so check the live page before you deposit.
Exchanges That Delisted XMR
| Exchange | Where | XMR trading ended |
|---|---|---|
| Binance | All regions | February 20, 2024 |
| Kraken | UK, Ireland, Belgium, the rest of the EEA, Canada, India, UAE | Dates differ by region |
| OKX | All regions | January 5, 2024 |
Binance said it would "delist and cease trading on all trading pairs" for XMR at "2024-02-20 03:00 (UTC)." OKX removed its XMR pairs on January 5, 2024. It said the pairs "do not fulfill our listing criteria."
Kraken still lists XMR in other regions. Its EEA notice says Kraken had "no choice but to delist Monero (XMR) in the European Economic Area (EEA) due to regulatory changes." Our guide Kraken delisted Monero in your country gives the dates for each region.
Two venues closed. LocalMonero, a peer-to-peer market for Monero, "wound down its operations in 2024," its site says. The exchange TradeOgre also closed. On September 18, 2025, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said it had seized the TradeOgre site and its crypto.
Where to Buy Monero on an Exchange Today
These exchanges showed an open XMR market in their own public data on October 17, 2026.
| Exchange | XMR markets |
|---|---|
| Bitfinex | XMR/USD, XMR/BTC, XMR/USDt |
| HTX | XMR/USDT |
| Kraken | XMR/USD, XMR/EUR, XMR/BTC, XMR/USDT, XMR/USDC |
| KuCoin | XMR/USDT, XMR/USDC, XMR/BTC, XMR/ETH |
| MEXC | XMR/USDT |
| Poloniex | XMR/USDT |
Each exchange decides which countries it serves and when it asks for ID. Kraken's XMR markets stay closed to clients in the regions in the first table. Your country can be blocked at any exchange, so read its terms before you deposit.
Peer-to-Peer Markets
On a peer-to-peer market, you trade with another person. You keep your own keys.
Haveno
Haveno's site calls it "a non-custodial, decentralized exchange platform for crypto and fiat currencies built on Tor and Monero." It says "All trades are P2P between users" and "All connections between Haveno peers run through the Tor network." You join a network that a third party runs. The site says: "We do not endorse any networks at this time."
RetoSwap
RetoSwap is a network built on Haveno. Its site says it is "Powered by Tor & Haveno" and calls it "a peer-to-peer trading network, not a website or centralized service." RetoSwap "has an integrated arbitration system" for disputes. For new traders, it offers "no-deposit offers."
Bisq
Bisq trades bitcoin for money or other coins. Its wiki says: "Monero (XMR) is one of the most active markets on Bisq." An XMR seller on Bisq must prove each payment with the transaction key, the transaction ID and the recipient's address. The wiki warns: "Failure to provide the required transaction data will result in losing disputes."
Atomic Swaps
To trade bitcoin for XMR with no middleman, use an atomic swap tool such as BasicSwap or eigenwallet. Our guide on how to swap crypto to Monero covers both, plus instant exchanges.
Bank and Card On-Ramps
An on-ramp turns money from your bank into crypto.
- Exchanges with a dollar or euro market. Bitfinex lists XMR/USD. Kraken lists XMR/USD and XMR/EUR for the clients it serves.
- DFX. DFX is a Swiss company in Zug. Its public asset list shows XMR on the Monero network as buyable. Its site, in German, says you pay by SEPA or SEPA Instant in EUR or CHF, and the coins go to your own wallet. It also says KYC is required for all transactions from CHF 1,000.
- eigenwallet. The eigenwallet home page lists "Buy Monero with EUR via SEPA (EU only)."
- Buy another coin, then swap. Buy bitcoin or litecoin on an exchange in your country. Then swap it to XMR on a swap service or with an atomic swap.
Why Exchanges Delist Monero
Kraken's EEA notice names "regulatory changes." A stricter EU rule comes next. The new anti-money laundering regulation, Regulation (EU) 2024/1624, sets it out. Its Article 79 bars crypto-asset service providers from keeping any account that allows "the anonymisation or increased obfuscation of transactions, including through anonymity-enhancing coins." Article 90 says the regulation applies "from 10 July 2027."
The rule covers exchanges and other service providers. It names the accounts they keep for clients.
After You Buy: Move XMR to Your Own Wallet
An exchange holds the keys to the XMR in your account. When Kraken delisted XMR in the EEA, it converted the XMR left in accounts to bitcoin. In a wallet you control, you hold the keys.
- Open Monero One. Tap Receive, then Copy Address.
- In the exchange, add that address as a withdrawal address. Pick the Monero network.
- Check the first and last six characters against the app.
- Send a small test first. Then send the rest.
- Wait for the funds to unlock. The Monero project says: "Newly received transactions require 10 confirmations on the blockchain before being unlocked." That takes about 20 minutes.
Write down your seed when you create the wallet, and keep it offline. Type it only inside your wallet app. Never type it into a website, a chat or a support ticket. Your XMR stays on the blockchain, and the seed is the wallet.
FAQ
Can I buy Monero in Monero One?
Not today. Buy XMR on an exchange, a peer-to-peer market or a swap service. Then send it to your Monero One receive address.
Can I still buy Monero in the EU?
Kraken ended XMR trading in the EEA in 2024. DFX and eigenwallet both list SEPA purchases of XMR. Peer-to-peer markets and swaps also work. Check the rules in your country first.
What happened to LocalMonero?
LocalMonero closed in 2024. Its site says: "After nearly seven years of operation, the service is closed." Haveno, RetoSwap and Bisq offer peer-to-peer trades today.
Which exchange is best for Monero?
We list facts, with no ranking. Compare the fees, the countries each exchange serves and its ID rules for your case. Then move your XMR to your own wallet.
Is it safe to keep XMR on an exchange?
An exchange can delist XMR, close your account or shut down. Keep on an exchange only what you trade, and keep the rest in a wallet you control.
