How to Swap Crypto to Monero (2026)
How to swap crypto to Monero in 2026: what to check before you swap, why swaps get stuck, and how to send the XMR to your own wallet.
By Joe, founder of Monero One
How do you swap crypto to Monero? You pick a swap service, send it a coin such as bitcoin, and it sends XMR to your wallet. An instant exchange can hold a swap for review and ask for ID, so read its terms before you send. This guide shows what to check before you swap crypto to Monero, why swaps get stuck, and how to send the XMR to your own wallet.
Monero One has no built-in swap today. Swap on a service you choose, then send the XMR to your Monero One receive address.
We make Monero One. The links in this guide carry no referral codes. We list the services from A to Z, with no ranking.
How We Checked
On October 17, 2026, we read each service's own terms, AML and KYC policy, FAQ and docs. We quote their words and give the date where the page shows one. We made no test swaps. Limits, fees and policies change, so read the live page before you send.
What to Check Before You Swap to Monero
Read these six things on the order page before you send a coin.
- The minimum. Each coin has one. ChangeNOW says its lower limits "are different for each coin and start from just $2." It adds: "If the deposit you’ve sent us is less than the minimum exchange amount, we will not be able to finish the exchange and guarantee a refund."
- A refund address. Give an address for the coin you send. The service uses it if the swap fails. SimpleSwap's terms say "we strongly recommend that you provide us with a wallet address to which any refundable amounts should be returned."
- The time-out. A fixed rate holds for a set time: 10 minutes at FixedFloat, 20 minutes at SimpleSwap and 60 minutes at Exolix. Send your deposit inside that window.
- The rate type. A fixed rate locks the amount you get, if your deposit arrives in time and matches the order. A floating rate sets the amount later. FixedFloat says its float rate "is finally set within 10 minutes after your transaction receives the required number of confirmations in the blockchain network."
- The network. Send the coin on the network that the order names. SimpleSwap warns: "Sending crypto to the wrong address or network may lead to a permanent loss of funds."
- The ID rules. Read the AML policy. Each instant exchange below says it can hold a swap for review or ask for ID.
Swap Services That Support XMR (October 2026)
These services offered XMR on October 17, 2026. Each fact comes from the service's own pages.
BasicSwap
BasicSwap is a peer-to-peer app for atomic swaps. You install it and run it yourself. Its FAQ says bitcoin and Monero swap "in both directions" with "no wrapped tokens, no bridge, and no intermediary chain." BasicSwap supports limit orders only, and its FAQ lists its fees as "0%." You still pay the normal network fees.
ChangeNOW
ChangeNOW is an instant exchange with fixed and floating rates. Its AML and KYC policy, updated July 17, 2026, says that users "from certain jurisdictions may be required to complete mandatory KYC." It also says that when its system "detects unusual patterns," the transaction "may be placed on hold."
eigenwallet
eigenwallet is a desktop app for atomic swaps from bitcoin to Monero. Its docs say a swap needs "Usually at least 0.0003 BTC (around $30)." If a swap stalls, a refund path opens after a timelock of "24 Bitcoin confirmations, or ~4 hours."
Exolix
Exolix is an instant exchange. Its AML policy, updated July 6, 2026, says: "Exolix reserves the right to suspend, delay, reject or cancel transactions until compliance review procedure is completed." Its terms say a fixed rate holds "for 60 minutes from the moment of creating the transaction."
FixedFloat
FixedFloat runs at ff.io. Its terms, updated October 2, 2026, say a user "does not have to register or log in to the Service system." They also say an order "may be suspended in order to request details about the origin of the funds." Its FAQ lists the fees: "1% + network fee" for a fixed rate and "0.5% + network fee" for a float rate. An order expires "after 30 minutes for an Order with a Float rate and after 10 minutes for an Order with a Fixed rate."
SimpleSwap
SimpleSwap is an instant exchange. Its FAQ says: "You do not need an account for most crypto-to-crypto swaps." Its AML policy says: "SimpleSwap may at its discretion require clients to complete mandatory KYC checks on any transaction." Its terms say a fixed rate "remains unchanged for 20 minutes."
StealthEX
StealthEX is an instant exchange. Its FAQ says: "StealthEX doesn’t require users to sign up to our website." Its terms, updated July 2026, say that transactions "are subject to compliance screening, risk assessment, and, where required, KYC Verification." The FAQ also says: "We do not have a maximum exchange limit for floating rate exchange."
Trocador
Trocador is an aggregator. On October 17, 2026, its site said it shows "the best floating and fixed rates from all our partner exchanges." Its FAQ says each partner "may halt your transaction and demand KYC/AML verification before completing it." To help you choose, Trocador gives each exchange "a simple privacy Rating." If you do not receive your coins, Trocador says it "will reimburse you up to the insured amount," with some exceptions. Trades with exchanges "rated as 'D' are not covered."
Closed or Paused
LetsExchange "has ceased its exchange operations on October 1, 2026," says its home page. SideShift's public coin list holds 202 coins on October 17, 2026, and XMR is absent from it.
Why Swaps Get Stuck
A swap can stall for these reasons.
- Confirmations. The service waits until your deposit confirms. FixedFloat warns that with a low network fee, "you risk spending a lot of time waiting for the order to be completed." ChangeNOW names a busy chain: "Too many transactions are waiting to be included into the blockchain."
- An expired fixed rate. If your deposit arrives late, FixedFloat lets you pick on the order page. You can "Continue the exchange at a floating rate," or ask for a refund minus the network fee.
- A different amount. On a fixed order at FixedFloat, "the amount must exactly match the amount of the order." Otherwise you get the same two choices: a refund or the market rate.
- An amount below the minimum. The swap can fail, and the refund is at risk. ChangeNOW and SimpleSwap both warn about this.
- The wrong network or a missing memo. Exolix and SimpleSwap both say funds sent this way can be lost.
- A compliance hold. The service pauses the swap and can ask for documents. StealthEX says the assets "will not be exchanged or released until the compliance review has been completed."
What to Do When a Swap Is Stuck
- Find the order ID and the transaction ID (hash) of your deposit. SimpleSwap says to use its Exchange ID "to track your exchange status or provide it when contacting" support.
- Open the order page and read its status.
- Look up your deposit in a block explorer for the coin you sent. Check the address and the number of confirmations.
- Contact support through the link on the service's own site. Give the order ID.
- Keep your seed to yourself. A swap service needs your receive address and your refund address. Never type your seed into a website, a chat or a support ticket.
Wrapped XMR Is a Token on Another Chain
Some sites offer "XMR" on Ethereum or another chain. That coin is a wrapped token on that chain. BTSE launched Wrapped Monero (WXMR) as an Ethereum token in January 2021. BTSE says: "BTSE is the custodian of the Monero backing Wrapped Monero." The Status wallet says WXMR "is a regular token on the Ethereum blockchain." It adds that its transaction history "will be public, just as for any other Ethereum-based token."
So check the network on every order. A Monero wallet holds XMR on the Monero network. Pick Monero as the receive network, and send only native XMR to a Monero address.
Send the XMR to Your Monero One Wallet
- Open Monero One and tap Receive.
- Tap Copy Address.
- Paste the address into the swap's receive field. Check the first and last six characters against the app.
- Add a refund address for the coin you send.
- Try a small swap first. For each swap, send the deposit before the order times out.
- Wait for the XMR. Monero One shows the payment as Pending at first.
The Monero project says: "Newly received transactions require 10 confirmations on the blockchain before being unlocked." A new block comes "once every 2 minutes," on average. So new XMR becomes spendable in about 20 minutes. Until then, Monero One shows the funds as locked.
If the service shows the payout as sent and your balance stays the same, let Monero One finish its sync. Our guide to a Monero balance that shows zero covers sync problems.
FAQ
Does Monero One have swaps?
Not today. Swap on a service you trust, then send the XMR to your Monero One receive address. Check the address on screen before you send.
Can a swap service ask me for ID?
Yes. ChangeNOW, Exolix, FixedFloat, SimpleSwap and StealthEX each say in their own terms that they can hold a swap for review or ask for KYC. Read the terms before you send.
Should I pick a fixed or a floating rate?
A fixed rate locks the amount you get, if you send the exact amount in time. A floating rate can change until your deposit confirms. Pick a fixed rate when you can send right away.
How long does a swap to XMR take?
StealthEX says swaps generally take "5 to 30 minutes." After the XMR arrives, Monero needs 10 confirmations, about 20 minutes, before you can spend it.
Is wrapped XMR the same as XMR?
No. Wrapped XMR is a token on another chain, and a custodian holds the XMR behind it. Send only native XMR on the Monero network to your Monero wallet.
