Best Monero Wallet for Android (2026)

The best Monero wallet for Android: nine apps compared on Google Play, F-Droid and APK installs, hardware wallets, Orbot and seeds.

By , founder of Monero One

Which Monero wallet should you use on Android? Start with how you install apps: Google Play, F-Droid or an APK file. Then check hardware wallets, Tor and seed formats. We compared nine Monero wallets for Android. Here is the short answer:

  • The most features: Cake Wallet. It creates Polyseed seeds, has built-in Tor, works with Ledger and Trezor devices, and installs five ways.
  • Monero only: Monero One, Monerujo or Monfluo.
  • A phone without Google Play: Cake Wallet, Stack Wallet, Monerujo, Monfluo, Unstoppable or Skylight from F-Droid, or any of the nine from an APK file.
  • A Ledger on a USB cable: Monerujo or Cake Wallet.

We make Monero One. So this guide uses facts from each wallet's own site, docs, release notes and code, and it names the places where other wallets do better.

How We Compared

On October 17, 2026, we read each wallet's store listings, its docs or release notes, and in some cases its source code. We did not test the apps by hand for this guide. The sources are at the end.

Each wallet gets the same checks: where you can get it, seed formats, hardware wallets, Tor and backups. For iPhone apps, read our iPhone Monero wallet guide.

F-Droid has a main catalog. Some developers also run their own F-Droid repository, which you add to the F-Droid app once. Cake Wallet, Stack Wallet, Monerujo and Monfluo use their own repositories. Unstoppable and Skylight are in the main catalog.

Cake says Obtainium gives "a direct upgrade path," and it recommends Accrescent "for a more reliable update experience." A move to Accrescent means you back up all your seeds and wallets and uninstall Cake first.

An APK that you install by hand updates only when you install the next one, or through a tool such as Obtainium. Download it only from the developer's own release page. Each Monero One release on GitHub comes with a SHA256SUMS.txt file to check the download. Skylight signs each release file with GPG.

The Monero One APK on GitHub is signed with a different key than the Google Play app, so neither one can update the other. The newest GitHub release can also be a beta. To switch from one to the other, back up your seed, uninstall the app, then install the other version.

Monero One for Android is a Monero-only app for Android 8.1 and later. It has home screen widgets for the price and for your balance, your own nodes with a login, and Tor through Orbot. Polyseed seeds, view-only wallets and Trezor pairing are in the iPhone app only.

Cake Wallet needs Android 8.0 or later. It creates Polyseed seeds, has built-in Tor, and works with Ledger and Trezor devices over Bluetooth or USB. It holds Monero next to Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum and other coins.

Monero.com is the Monero-only app from Cake Labs, the team behind Cake Wallet.

Monerujo is a Monero-only app. It works with a Ledger over a USB OTG cable and supports seed offsets. Its Sidekick feature "pairs with a companion phone over Bluetooth to keep your keys away from the internet." Its latest release, v4.1.7, came out on June 17, 2025.

Stack Wallet holds Monero next to Bitcoin, Litecoin and other coins, and it runs on phones and computers. Its release notes added Polyseed and Tor support for Monero in June 2024.

Unstoppable added Monero in version 0.44, in August 2025. Version 0.50, in August 2026, added 25-word seed import, accounts and coin control.

Monfluo is a Monero-only app and "a fork of Mysu." It lists Polyseed and seed passphrases, and it has "NO integrations" such as exchange rates or swaps.

Skylight is a light wallet from MAGIC Grants, a nonprofit. It can sync through a light wallet server (LWS) that you pick, and it gives that server your private view key. Since version 2.0, in September 2026, it can also connect to a Monero node and scan on your phone. It has built-in Tor.

Edge added Full Sync for Monero in July 2026. Edge says that "Full Sync allows Edge to locally download and validate the Monero blockchain."

The Monero project also publishes its command-line wallet for Android, for ARMv8 and ARMv7 phones.

Seed Formats in Android Monero Wallets

UnstoppableNot stated25 words, since version 0.50

Do you have a 16-word Polyseed from Monero One for iPhone or from Cake? On Android, Cake Wallet and Monfluo restore it. Monero One for Android restores 24-word and 25-word seeds.

Our Monero seed words guide explains each format and the apps that read it.

Hardware Wallets on Android

An Android phone can reach a hardware wallet over Bluetooth or a USB cable. For the Trezor Safe 7, Trezor says: "On Android, you can use either Bluetooth or a USB-C cable for setup and use."

Trezor Suite does not handle Monero, so a Trezor needs one of these apps.

  • Cake Wallet works with Ledger and Trezor devices over Bluetooth or USB. Trezor's own Monero page lists Cake Wallet on Android with the Safe 7, Safe 5, Safe 3 and Model T.
  • Monerujo works with a Ledger Nano S series device over a USB OTG cable.
  • Sidekick and Cupcake turn a second phone into an offline signer. Monerujo's Sidekick pairs over Bluetooth. Cake's Cupcake "turns an old iOS or Android phone into an air-gapped hardware wallet that signs for Cake Wallet."
  • Monero One pairs a Trezor in its iPhone app only.

Tor and Orbot on Android

Tor hides your IP address from the node that your wallet talks to. Orbot is a Tor app for Android on Google Play. Wallets without built-in Tor send their traffic through it.

  • Monero One: start Orbot first. Then go to Settings, Sync Settings, Remote Node and turn on Use Tor Proxy. The app says: "Monero One does not include Tor. Start Orbot or another Tor proxy before turning this on." The node list includes two Monero One onion nodes.
  • Monerujo: turn on Enable TOR. Monerujo asks you to turn on "Allow Background Starts" in Orbot's settings.
  • Cake Wallet: use its built-in Tor, which Cake marks experimental, or use Orbot.
  • Stack Wallet and Skylight: Stack's release notes list Tor support for Monero, and Skylight has Tor built in.

Backups on Android

Your seed is the main backup. Write it on paper and keep it offline. Type it only into a wallet app on your own device, and never into a website, chat or support ticket. Your Monero stays on the blockchain, and the seed is the wallet.

  • Monero One: go to Settings, then Backup Seed Phrase. For a 24-word wallet, pick 24 words (BIP39 format) or Legacy (25 words) to see the same wallet in either form.
  • Cake Wallet: besides the seed, you can export an encrypted backup file of all your wallets and settings. On Android, tap Save to Downloads or Share to store it. The file needs the password that Cake creates, and it restores only on a new install.
  • Monerujo: Backup copies the wallet to a backups folder inside the monerujo folder on the phone. Its help text says to copy the monerujo folder "on a regular basis to off-device storage."

Moving Monero to Your Android Phone

To move a wallet, install the new app, choose restore, and type your seed. The app scans the blockchain and finds your funds.

  • From Exodus: our Exodus guide shows how to move your XMR.
  • From MyMonero: our MyMonero guide shows how to restore a 25-word MyMonero seed.
  • From an exchange: send your XMR to your wallet address. Our Kraken guide walks through a withdrawal.
