Feather Wallet on iPhone or Android? What to Use Instead

Feather Wallet runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, not on phones. Here is how to restore a Feather seed on iPhone or Android, or move your XMR.

By , founder of Monero One

Feather Wallet has no iPhone or Android app. Feather is a Monero wallet for computers, and its download page lists Windows, macOS and Linux builds only. To use a Feather wallet on your phone, restore your Feather seed in a phone wallet that reads it, or send your XMR to a new phone wallet. This guide shows both ways and which phone wallets read which seeds.

Feather's site lists no phone app, so an app with the Feather name in a phone store did not come from Feather's download page. Cake Wallet's docs warn that "Fake wallet apps copy the names and icons of real ones." Keep your seed out of any app you are not sure of.

We make Monero One, one of the phone wallets below. On a computer, we recommend Feather. Each phone wallet here is listed with facts from its own docs or code.

How We Checked

On October 17, 2026, we read Feather's website and docs, the Cake Wallet docs, the Stack Wallet release notes and code, the Monerujo source code and the Polyseed specification. For Monero One, we read the app source code at the versions in the stores: iOS 1.0.9 (10) and Android 1.0.9 (15). We did not test the other apps by hand for this guide.

Where Feather Wallet Runs

Feather's home page says it plainly: "Feather is a free, open-source Monero wallet for Linux, Tails, Windows and macOS."

Its download page lists these builds:

  • Linux: a standalone file, AppImages for x64, ARM (the Raspberry Pi among them) and RISC-V, plus a Flatpak.
  • Tails and Whonix: an AppImage.
  • Windows: Windows 10 and higher.
  • macOS: Intel and Apple silicon.

The latest release on that page is 2.8.1, from April 14, 2025. No iPhone or Android build is on the list.

On a computer, Feather is a strong choice. Its docs list built-in Tor, many Ledger and Trezor models, offline signing and coin control. Keep using it there. A phone wallet can sit next to it for everyday payments.

Which Seed Does Your Feather Wallet Use?

Feather's docs say: "Feather uses Polyseed for 16 word mnemonic seeds." Feather 2.0.0 and later make these 16-word seeds. Older versions made 14-word seeds. Feather restores 16-word, 14-word and 25-word seeds.

To see your seed in Feather, go to Wallet, then Seed, or press the seed icon in the status bar. Enter your password. A view-only wallet or a wallet on a hardware device has no seed to show.

A Polyseed seed stores the date you made the wallet. The Polyseed specification lists an "embedded wallet birthday to optimize restoring from the seed." So a phone wallet that reads Polyseed knows where to start the scan, and it skips the date question.

Feather can also show your wallet as a 25-word seed. Check Show 25 word seed in the same Seed window. Feather's docs say this "may come in handy if you want to restore your wallet using software that does not support Polyseed." A 25-word seed leaves out the date, so note the restore height too. Help, then Debug info, shows it.

Between them, these phone wallets take 12, 16, 24 or 25 words. An old 14-word Feather seed needs the second method below.

Cake Wallet runs on iPhone, iPad and Mac from the App Store. On Android, you can get it from Google Play, F-Droid, Accrescent, Obtainium or GitHub. Its restore screen has a seed-type selector with Polyseed (16 words), Legacy (25 words) and BIP39 (12 words). It holds many coins, and it also runs on Linux.

Stack Wallet runs on iPhone, Android, Windows, macOS and Linux. Its release notes from June 2024 say: "Polyseed support added for XMR." Its code lists 16 and 25 words for Monero. It holds many coins, so it suits you if you want one app on your phone and your computer.

Monero One holds Monero only. On iPhone it restores 16-word Polyseed, 24-word and 25-word seeds. On Android it restores 24-word and 25-word seeds, so use Feather's 25-word form there.

Monerujo is an Android app for Monero alone. It restores 25-word seeds, and it has an optional seed offset phrase.

For more on each app, see our guide to the best Monero wallets and our seed words guide.

Way 1: Restore Your Feather Seed on Your Phone

With this method, Feather and your phone open the same wallet. Both show the same balance and the same history.

  1. In Feather, go to Wallet, then Seed, and enter your password. Write down the 16 words in order, on paper.
  2. On your phone, open the wallet app and pick restore from a seed.
  3. If the app asks for a seed type, pick Polyseed or 16 words.
  4. Enter the words and finish the restore. A Polyseed restore needs no date.
  5. Wait for the sync to end. Then compare the main address with the primary address in Feather. They must match.

In Cake Wallet, tap Recovery Phrase or Keys on the Restore Wallet screen. Choose Monero, then set the seed-type selector to Polyseed (16 words). In Monero One for iPhone, tap Restore Wallet, then Seed Phrase, and enter the 16 words.

If Your Phone Wallet Needs 25 Words

Monero One for Android and Monerujo need the 25-word form.

  1. In Feather, go to Wallet, then Seed. Check Show 25 word seed and write down the words.
  2. Note the restore height from Help, then Debug info.
  3. On the phone, restore the 25 words.
  4. Give the app a start point. Monerujo takes the block number or a date. Monero One asks for a date, so pick the day you made the Feather wallet, or an earlier day.

If you pick a date that is too late, the wallet skips your older payments. Our guide to a balance that shows zero after a restore explains the fix.

If You Added a Passphrase in Feather

Feather can extend a seed with a passphrase. If you did that, the phone app needs the same passphrase too. Monero One has no passphrase field. If your phone app has none, use Way 2.

Way 2: Send Your XMR to a New Phone Wallet

With this method, you make a new wallet on the phone, with its own seed. Your Feather wallet stays as it is.

We like this way for savings. Your phone holds only what you move to it, and the rest stays in Feather.

  1. Create a new wallet in the phone app. Write down its seed on paper.
  2. Open the app's receive screen and copy an address. Get it onto your computer. You can send it to yourself, or scan its QR code with Feather's webcam scanner.
  3. In Feather, go to the Send tab. Paste the address into the Pay to field.
  4. Enter the amount, or click Max to send all of it. Click Send, check the fee, then click Send again.
  5. Wait for the XMR to unlock on the phone.

Paste the address and never type it by hand. Feather's docs say "never manually type an address!" After you paste, check the first and last few characters against the phone.

The Monero project says: "Newly received transactions require 10 confirmations on the blockchain before being unlocked." A block comes about every 2 minutes, so this takes about 20 minutes. Your Feather wallet pays a normal network fee for the send.

This is also the way for a 14-word Feather seed. Open it in Feather on your computer, then send the XMR to your phone wallet.
